Bach's setting of the beloved Christmas chorale "Beside Thy Manger Here I Stand" (ES ST GEWISSLICH) is offered here in an arrangement for solo piano. Originally from Part VI of Bach's Christmas Oratorio for the Feast of Epiphany, this chorale is a setting of the Paul Gerhardt (1607-76) text "Ich steh' an deiner Krippen hier" and in the oratorio is placed where the Wise Men fall down before the Christ Child and worship Him.
