"Stars From the Start" No. 2
"Stars from the Start"
In these recital pieces for flute and piano, the solo part uses just 5 notes, F-C, making them accessible for absolute beginners. A judicious use of repetition makes them a satisfying length for concert performance, without a great burden of preparation. The very simple piano accompaniments are clearly set out and suitable for elementary accompanists.
In the initial stages of flute playing, variation in dynamics and articulation may not be possible. Various flute methods introduce these markings in different orders. So that teachers can mark the part as appropriate to individual pupils, two versions are included in these downloads, with and without markings.
Slightly more advanced players can use these pieces as quick-study repertoire. It is also useful to give the pupil the unmarked part and have them suggest suitable markings (which may be quite different to those in the score but equally suitable. Additionally, they can be used in aural/theory exercises, with pupils entering the markings in response to the teacher's playing.
