This is an 8 minute , 5 movement suite for full clarinet choir. It was composed in 1980 for the Jacksonville (AL) State University Clarinet Choir under the direction of Prof. Carl H.C. Anderson.

Clarinet Ensemble

A 3 minute piece for ten brass and timpani. The music is well suited for use as a prelude to or featured work in a graduation ceremony. It would also be a great way to feature the brass section of your concert band in concert. This is one of five works for brass which Mr. Hazzard composed for the Boston Brass Ensemble between 1987 and 2003.

The Time Has Come

Written for Kent Griggs in the 1970s, this five movement piece is a 'tour
  de force' for the English Horn. The movements as balanced between faster and
  slower tempos and #3 is a full Baroque five-part fugue form. (Movements 4 and
  5 are played as one continuous section.) If no string quartet is available,
  the work is also scored with a clarinet quartet as Pepper #11160559. The set
  includes all five parts and a full score. The audio file included here is
  provides a short sample of each of the movements.

English Horn Quintet

This lovely three and one half minute impressionistic piece for flute and
  strings was written in 1978 for Jo and Toni Birdsey. Daughters of the well
  known Bermudian artist Alfred Birdsey, the ladies are both accomplished
  painters and musicians. The Mr. Hazzard had many wonderful visits to Bermuda,
  all of which included great conversation with all three artists and their
  families.

Portrait For FLute and String Orchestra

This is a wonderful short march written for middle school band and at one
  minute in length it is a perfect concert opener. Your younger band will love
  this rousing piece that will make them sound terrific. There is enough
  doubling of the less common instruments so that the integrity of the music is
  not lost regardless of your instrumentation.

Composed for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the composer's Alma Mater in 1981, this 4-Movement piece is delightful to hear and the music is appropriate for a festival or ceremonial occasion.

Suite for Brass Sextet

Landmark Suite was commissioned by the Metropolitan Wind Symphony of
  Boston for its 10th Anniversary season 1980-81. It was premiered in April of
  1981 in Sanders Theater in the campus on Harvard University with MWS music
  director Rowland E. Sylvester conducting. The ensemble performed the piece
  again in 1982 at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library in Boston with the
  composer conducting. The commission instructions given to Mr. Hazzard in 1980
  were that the piece could be in any form, should be no longer than 15 minutes
  and that the music should clearly identify the ensemble with the city of
  Boston. In 1983, after requests from two conductors of local orchestras, Mr.
  Hazzard restructured the piece for the standard orchestra. Mr. Hazzard makes
  it clear that the orchestra version contains all the sonic material of the
  original band version; no more, no less. The piece is a composition which
  stands on its own and is not an arrangement. Op. a9A was premiered by the
  Hingham, MA Symphony Orchestra in 1983 under the direction of John
  Corley.
    
    The five musical "pictures" of Boston landmarks are Old Ironsides
  (USS Constitution), Swan Boats in the Public Garden, The John Hancock tower
  and Copley Square, Old North Church, and Harvard Yard. The performance time
  us about 11 minutes. The piece is suitable for a strong high school orchestra
  as we ll as collegiate and community orchestras. It is a terrific piece for a
  "pops" concert! The audio file contains a short segment of each movement.

These three choral compositions by Boston composer Barry Singer are settings of poems by Emily Dickenson, W H Auden, and Edgar Alan Poe. They may be performed separately or as a set. Two are a cappella and the third is set with piano accompaniment.

THREE TIMES WE PARTED

SATB Octavo

Contemporary but in the style of a Renaissance festival this music is suitable for a wedding, or other event. There are three movements; a processional, an intermezzo and a recessional. The trumpet parts are supplied in both Bb and C. This new score and parts set corrects some errors in the originals. The recording was made in the All Saints Church, Brookline, MA in 1976. The music has been used in many weddings with great success.

Five movements from Prokofiev's famous ballet score arranged for one piano 4-hands. The arrangement was commissioned by the internationally known team of Barbara and Gerhard Suhrstedt in 1992 and has been played throughout the US and internationally including Russia.The audio file attached here includes a short clip of each of the five movements: The Montegues and The Capulets, The young Juliette, Dance of the Girl with Lilies, Masks and Folk Dance. Five Pieces From Romeo & Juliet, Op 75

C Instruments Score Piano 4-Hands

This percussion piece for beginning and emerging percussion ensemble was
  composed for an introduction to music performance class of 16 ninth grade
  students. The class had only a few students who had ever played music, let
  alone read it. The piece is just under three minutes with a slow first
  movement and a fast second. There were 16 students in the class, each playing
  one instrument. For publication Mr. Hazzard has included 5 extra parts which
  each combine two of the 16 parts so that the piece may be played by only 11
  players. As the beginning students become more proficient at playing and
  reading the music, some of them might be switched to a part with two
  instruments. This is an excellent "real world" exercise for
  teaching basic note reading, counting, and ensemble performance. It also
  gives students the chance to play a wide range of percussion instruments.

Landmark Suite for Concert Band

Composed for a saxophone quintet at Berklee College of Music in 1978,
  this 12 - minute work is a wonderful workout for woodwind players who are
  learning doubles and perhaps interested in playing in a Broadway-style pit
  orchestra. The instrument changes are many! It is also a fun piece for an
  audience to hear and well as to see. The first and last of the seven
  movements are for a saxophone quintet. The five other movements require those
  same players to use multiple doubles. A complete instrumental breakdown is
  found in the composer's notes in the full score. In addition to the five
  saxophones, the flute, clarinet and double reed families are well
  represented. 
    
    
    
    The music is structured as a suite of incidental music for a stage
  production with movement titles which suggest the story that would unfold if
  there were a play. The stage play is, however, in the composer's imagination.
  The music is contemporary but has a quasi-Arabian or Sinbad feel. The five
  parts could could be performed by several players if needed to cover all the
  instruments. As a stand alone piece or perhaps a feature for the woodwind
  section of a concert band, this is a very unusual and exciting piece.

This lovely Celtic-style song has now been arranged for SAB Chorus with Flute, Trumpet, Strings, and Rhythm Section. It is filled with hope and the concept that angels come in many forms. The 12/8 ballad features flute and violin in a beautiful interlude duet. Perfect for any holiday concert. Guitar and Ukulele parts include some TAB notation.

Composed for the 2009 New Hampshire Southwest District Middle School Chorus, Mr. Hazzard's setting of text from former NH Governor John Lynch's 2nd inaugural address, has both dignity and beauty, while keeping well within the capabilities of young singers. The expressive work features tight harmonies combined with powerful unison without extremes of range or vocal demands, supported by an engaging piano accompaniment.
