Blue's Blues

Blue's Blues was written for the great trumpet player Blue Mitchell. It's a medium boogaloo over a blues form. With a nice style and feel, it features a funky melody introduced by the full ensemble followed by written or improvised solo space for alto sax. The ensemble keeps cookin' behind the solo with authentic counterpoint and punches. There's a brief drum break after the solo followed by the band groovin' right on to the end. Playable with optional expanded instrumentation, this funky chart will become a player favorite!
