This moderate swing chart has a strong bebop influence - the title is derived from the early 1940s when jazz players would use these and other similar syllables to sing the melodies of tunes. There's a central rhythm that occurs throughout this strong arrangement that is first stated in measure 1. The second chorus is open for solos if desired. Solo sheets are provided for saxes, trumpets and trombones; developing players can play them as written or use them as a springboard for their own improvised solos. This effective tune is also playable without solos. It's scored for 5 saxes, 8 brass and rhythm, but will be equally effective when played with as few as 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone and rhythm section.
