Bounding Joy

Capturing the excitement, energy, and joy of a toddler's awkward first steps, this medium-level concert band work is inspired by home videos from the composer's childhood. Written in an energetic 7/8 meter, the piece constantly shifts through changing keys and styles, reflecting curiosity and momentum. An active percussion section drives the motion throughout, adding sparkle and playful intensity to the music. A strong choice for high school ensembles looking for a joyful concert opener or closer.
