Bring Me the Sunset

Winner of the first California ACDA Choral Composition Competition, this is the most serious and thought-provoking of the collection known as “a Stranger yet.” Text and music combine into a moving, inspirational miniature, suitable for any venue. The work is contemplative at times, exuberant at others. Sudden tonal shifts reflect new rhetorical questions and tasks asked of the listener. Through lovely (occasionally shared) melody, and (often close) harmony, Mr. Neufeld, indeed, brings us the sunset---along with the robin’s ecstasy, the wampum of the night, and everything else in Emily Dickinson’s imaginative and beloved poem ...and he does so with gentle craft and fine-tuned acumen.
