In Part 1, our mind is set into a poorly run kingdom. An evil king driven by power has pulled his countrymen into a time of ruin. The opening fanfare
introduces this place and brings the listener into a day to day feeling of uncertainty in the following phrase. Suddenly, a dissonant phrase pulls us out of time as the evil king demonstrates his abuse of power. This brings us to the mid-section of the piece which introduces a new character through an alto saxophone solo, a young noble swordmaker with their heart set on becoming a knight in hopes to help the people around him. This phrase builds as they continue to be more and more influential within the kingdom. The movement ends with this noble brought before the evil king and their High Knight, with no knowledge of what they've done... or what he'll do next.
