With accessible range and rhythms well within young players' comfort zone, your students will be confident playing this bluesy swing-style chart. Adequate repetition with just enough subtle change allows the band to lock in, find the pocket, and sound mature. The chart swings hard. Your students will learn to groove on the more aggressive side of swing, playing with intention and feel, digging into the accents. Solos are based on a safe B-flat blues scale, but you can encourage your students to explore the shift to the D-flat chord change during the solo section. Ideal for showcasing not only your soloists but the entire ensemble.
