Caledonia is the ancient Roman term for the area that is now called Scotland.
Dougie MacLean writes, "Since I wrote this song in Brittany, France in 1979 this 'wee homesick song' has had an amazing history! It has been recorded by over 300 artists in 12 different languages and many styles. I feel proud that in Scotland "Caledonia" has become part of common culture...sung at football games, weddings, funerals and in lots of schools....as well as pubs!
I think the lyric and melody somehow capture a special feeling of love and longing for one's home...wherever that is! I hope you enjoy singing "Caledonia" together as much as I still do."
Nickerson first learned Caledonia during a pub-sing in Scariff, Ireland. He created this arrangement with the blessing and assistance of Dougie MacLean.
