This composition takes players back to earlier times when neighboring tribes would communicate with each other not by racing through the dense jungle or harsh desert but by using drums. With an interesting, pulsating rhythm and catchy woodwind lines, use this to catch students' interest and get them involved in making some fun musical moments. The notes are easily played by those with over a year of band, but the piece also provides a good challenge as the first clarinets do go over the break a couple of times. There are plenty of dynamic contrasts, interesting percussion parts, and plenty of exciting moments. Perfect for an exhilarating ending to a concert.
