In the early evening of November 20, 2004, the composer had his last phone conversation with his father, Efim. Usually cheerful, his father sounded upset and did not seem up to having a long chat. As soon as the conversation ended, Peskanov felt the desire to compose an uplifting little piece to cheer up his Dad. A few hours later, Efim passed away. Capriccio is written in the style of Italian Baroque, its melody flowing in a weaving pattern, creating a tapestry of colors. This piece reminds the listener of works by Domenico Scarlatti and Baldassarre Galuppi.
