Carlo Alfredo Piatti composed only one more piece for cello solo, besides the Twelve Caprices, Op. 25, the Capriccio sopra un tema della Niobe di Pacini, Op. 22, published in 1864, but apparently performed for the first time in 1843 in Budapest.
This edition thoroughly researches the surviving sources and the history behind the opera theme (an investigation on its own) and provides a modern, clean, and easy-to-play-from format for this 10-minutes-long virtuoso piece.
The extra cello part is edited by Maestro Antonio Meneses after his outstanding recording in the CD "Capriccioso", marking the start of a new great collaboration for our editions.
