Celebrating the Fifth

Here's a bluesy tune that is not a blues. The interval of the diminished fifth is prominent, in both melody and harmony. The chord progression makes extensive use of the Circle of Fifths, but in reverse (an interesting challenge for soloists)! This full band chart may be played with a smaller instrumentation of 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone and rhythm section.
