Chicharra

A syncopated motive in the viola and cello sections starts this diabolical journey of dance and lyricism. The driving rhythms and lyrical lines are infused with elements of the tango, including the chicharra technique of playing behind the bridge! A contrasting B section in 6/8 is almost waltz-like, showing the softer side of this dance journey before resuming the original melody with rhythm and fire.
