Chinese New Year Song

When I heard this music played by the Taipei Youth Orchestra in Taiwan, I thought American youth could play it if minor changes were made to accommodate Western instruments. This arrangement makes those changes while preserving the essential characteristics of the Chinese music. As a result, the music is an introduction into Chinese culture that responds to the current American interest in China and to the state and national standards that emphasize intercultural learning.
