<p>This composition was awarded 2nd prize in the Japan ICC Composition Competition 2022 and features on the album 'Inexpressible Wonder', brilliantly performed by Andrew Crane and the Brigham Young University (BYU) Singers. It's exciting and fast-paced opening leads into a slow-moving contemplative mood and then concludes with more choral pyrotechnics. A great choral fanfare of a piece!</p>

Sing A New Song

2-Part Mixed Choir w/ Worship Leader

This piece is very much a reminder that there may be struggles and conflicts in the world but for people of faith, any faith, the stillness of God cuts through and prevails. It was composed for the voluntary choir at Hereford Cathedral in the UK. Essentially it is structured in three sections: the first (in 9/8) in A major "God is our refuge, God is our strength" then transitions into the dramatic middle section, slowly accelerating in tempo - "He maketh wars to cease" - and modulating through Bb, Db, Dm and then a final crescendo to fortissimo on the words "He burneth the chariot with fire!" The third and final section begins after a tacet and the mood turns into one of stillness and reflection on the words "be still". The final "be still" is repeated through a modulating homophonic chord progression that concludes extremely quietly with a D9 chord.

This is an a cappella chorus setting of the beautiful sonnet written in 1819 by the English Romantic poet John Keats. It
turned out to be the last poem he created and is one of the most beautiful love poems in English literature.

Bright Star

SSAATTBB Octavo

This beautiful and meditative song can be sung by several soloists over the three verses with a small harmony group singing the short motif at the end of each verse.
It can be used as an introit, kyrie or even a communion song in a Eucharist or as a stand alone song in any gathering where the theme is 'healing' or 'peace'.

Song for a Broken World

This memorable and haunting setting of the Improperia (antiphons) for Good Friday liturgies is used in many churches in the UK. The refrains can easily be learned by the congregation and the structure of the music is that of cantor (or a range of soloists or semi-chorus) singing the verses and then leading the congregation in the two contrasting refrains.

Two-Part Mixed

A setting for a cappella choir of this beautiful poem: the chorus imitate in this piece both the sound of many church bells ringing and also the sound of angels singing to the shepherds in Bethlehem. In the final section the listener is asked to listen to "the eternal silence" as we are taken back to that sacred moment of Jesus' birth 2,000 years ago.

This setting of Joyce Kilmer's iconic poem 'Trees' also has additional Latin text by the composer. The setting invites us to meditate on the fundamental part that trees play in our lives and in our world, sustaining us and holding our fragile ecosystem in place.

This is a slow-moving, meditative and lyrical setting of the poem by Sara Teasdale  for SSAATBB chorus. First performance is by the Manchester Chorale on 7th July 2025.
It would be a great inclusion in any concert or gathering where the theme of Peace is a central part of the programming: "Peace flows into me as the tide to the pool by the shore".

This is a setting of the translation of Psalm 23 found in the 'Scottish Psalter' - set for SATB chorus and keyboard. It has a lilting 'Celtic' feel to the melody.

A setting for SATB chorus and piano of the poem by WW1 poet May Wedderburn Cannan. May was one of thousands of women who volunteered to go to France to help with caring for wounded soldiers. She was based in Rouen.

We Dare To Dream

A composition for SATB chorus and keyboard. This was selected as the winning composition in the Pullen Memorial Choral Composition 2015. The lyrics are written by the composer. It's celebratory in mood and the theme is of building a community of peace and reconciliation.

Commonwealth of Love

This is a beautifully lyrical and celebratory song for the Christmas season which is set for SATB chorus and piano. The message is in captured in the final line: "Let us sing a song of peace, that strife anf fighting will cease: Love will reign in every heart."

Love Will Reign

This is a setting of text by the composer, inspired by verses from Isaiah 60 and Acts 2. It opens quietly and with a sense of mystery on the words "Arise! Shine Out! Your Light has come!" and moves through two verses towards a celebratory and powerful climactic last verse beginning with the words "Proclaim the dawn of Liberty!" and concluding with a call for justice: "The least of you will be raised high to see the Promised Land!".
