Christ Child Lullaby

Inspired by Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves this version of Christ Child Lullaby is an adaptation of the traditional Christmas hymn with the same title. The middle strings are featured in the melody at the opening while the flute and oboe provide a light countermelody. The middle section accelerates to an original dance tune as the trumpet pronounces the melody Now is Born the Divine Christ Child. In the ending section the original hymn tune returns played with solo harp followed by the full orchestra bringing the tune to a dramatic climax before drifting slowly to a peaceful ending.
