  spinning. It explores the constant hustle and bustle that many of us
  experience in our daily lives, only providing a moment or two to reflect on
  the past or take a walk through memory lane. Ostinatos provide the integral
  role in propelling this piece forward, primarily in the Bass Clarinet and
  Bassoon. The main melody carried in the Oboe and Clarinet provide direction
  and purpose for the lower instrumentsi constant motion.

This grade 2 piece is great for a young string orchestra! Gritty and mysterious, The Crossover will take your students through a dramatic dialogue between registers of the instruments and the cinematic nature of a minor key. This piece features pizzicato sections for the Violin II and Viola, introductory double-stops and position changes for Violin I, and heavy, pulsating baselines for the Cello and Bass. Opportunities for unified bow releases are also present in this work.

"We Will Rise" offers a message of strength and humility to young students. Simple rhythms over the foundation of a constant pulse throughout the piece help singers exercise and focus on breath support and articulation. While mostly homophonic, there are some small sections monophonic movement. One brief moment of counterpoint between two parts can be used as a great first-time experience for choirs unfamiliar with the technique. An optional timpani accompaniment will make it that much more fun and exciting to sing and listen to, as well as introduce young singers to a new kind of instrument! "Shockachi" is quite the adventure with fast-paced, cinematic sections contrasting with slower, legato sections. This large choral work involves a rhythmic ostinato repeated throughout and passed from section to section. A strong alto section is essential for the success of this piece, as they carry the ostinato most of the time. A made-up language is used as well, with pronunciations similar to Latin and inspired by Hawaiian. Larger choirs will be best suited for this piece, which takes advantage of divisi to provide multiple instances of contrapuntal lines. If you're looking for a piece that hits hard, showcases the strength and versatility of your ensemble, or offers a unique experience in text interpretation, then "Shockachi" is for you.

Finding My Way is a somber walk through self-discovery. With some flares
  of jazz and celtic inspiration, it will create an atmosphere of wandering
  through the city streets on a rainy night. This piece is a great introduction
  to jazz-style music for the young performer, as it has some qualities common
  in jazz (such as a swing-like meter and short improv. section) but is not
  harmonically difficult. It also invites audience participation with optional
  snaps in certain sections! Trumpet or Flugelhorn is acceptable for
  performance.

This three-movement song cycle, consisting of texts by poet Edgar Alan Poe, reflects the dark and maniacal tone that he is known for, as well as a more somber (and maybe even hopeful?) sound later in the work. "Of Good and Ill" requires great versatility for both the singer and accompanist, as it quickly moves between different registers of both instruments many different times. This is also the case for tempo and mood changes within each movement. Optional attacca is included, giving performers the option to blend all three movements into one if preferred. Overall, "Of Good and Ill" will be an emotional ride for both performers and audiences, and getting to the end will be a rewarding experience for all!

The very first choral composition by Christian Fortner is a letter to Fear, as if it were a person itself. It follows the narrative of someone who has turned their back on Fear as a result of their life being changed by an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary group of people - the Voices of Sun. They are no longer blind with anguish, no longer cold with fear, no longer dead without purpose - they can now see with the light, are warm with joy and love, and are alive without fear of the future. Accompanied by piano, this emotional choral work features splits within each voice part at various points, but only houses a maximum of a six-part split at once. Sing this piece for hope and light.

Hang on tight as Stallion takes you on a wild ride through the
  countryside! You will experience the ease of a nice stroll at the start of
  the piece, but not for long. A fast-paced middle section brings about an
  exhilarating chase as the percussion joins and the different sections take
  turns scaling the hills. High position moments appear in all the sections
  but the bass, however lower optional notes are available. This piece will
  challenge students to maintain tempo and energy while also promoting swift
  elegance in shifting, and provide an introduction to performance with other
  non-stringed instruments.

A journey through the open seas is in store, as Full Sails brings with it the thrill, adventure, and freedom that the waves bring to any person that casts off from the shore! This work features a mixture of both rhythmic and legato passages, a fun viola-centered passage, a brief violin solo, and an introductory measure to higher positions in the Violin I.

This beautiful ballad provides an excellent opportunity for the young
  pianist to get acquainted with the black keys of the piano while also
  encouraging extra musicality to make the piece flourish. Intimate moments
  give the performer moments to breathe life into simple phrases, and melodic
  lines flow gracefully from hand to hand. This soft goodbye will touch the
  hearts of performers and listeners alike.

End of an Era

Piano Solo

"Maiden x Dragon" tells the story of a young woman and a dragon who meet and become allies after a chance encounter, with the woman being voiced by the soprano part and the dragon voiced by the bassoon part. The maiden, who has been exiled from her home, flees into a nearby forest, where she meets the dragon. After an initial hostile confrontation, upon further examination, they realize that they are very similar - both despised by the world they live in. This leads to the two joining forces to survive. Throughout most of the piece, the soprano and bassoon parts echo each other, signifying the similar thoughts they both have individually. At the end of the piece, the two voices finally become more in-sync with each other, just as the characters do in the story.
