Upbeat, light-hearted songs were the norm for American popular songs during the early 20th century. Vaudevillian and comedic in their musical treatment, many of these tunes were designed as love songs. This particular tune by Joseph Meyer illustrates the scene at an automat or diner where a simple date - along with a light meal and drink - can be the best thing on the menu. Arrangement for this song was mainly modeled from its performance by the barbershop quartet The Buffalo Bills.

The sacred text from 1 Corinthians have been translated into Spanish and is set masterfully for unaccompanied women's chorus. Lyrical phrasing and stepwise harmonies during the mostly homophonic work illustrate the beauty of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross, as well as the exaltation given by His followers for his selfless act. Appropriate for general use in the worship calendar, but can be most effective during the season of Lent and Easter holiday.

The gentle, folk-like structure of this work is an inviting ballad.  Its lyrical melody is supported by a
  continual accompaniment pattern.  The
  middle section continues the welcoming nature of the work while widening its
  melodic leap.  This song's message

  everyone they meet, strangers and family alike, building longer tables
  instead of walls and fences.

This is a masterful rendition of the renowned Christmas carol. With the chorus gently opening in unison (and closing in the same way), the audience is then taken on a beautiful lyrical journey. The part-writing in each of the voices give the chorus the opportunity to blend and even make the chords ring with excitement throughout the work. The instruments uses triplets and duplets interchangeably throughout the work as they seemlessly accompany the lyrics to the beloved tune. Your violinist and cellist will have a performance outreach as they play their respective melodic lines. The key change further explores the optimism and hope the Christmas season brings, culminating in a thunderous vibrant moment on the word "glory", proclaiming the power of His majesty before tapering into the divine night. The audience will be inspired with your choir's performance of this work.

Ten Sacred Hymn Piano Solos, vol. 1

Back in ancient times, the hearth was usually a warming spot (like a
  fireplace nowadays) where members of a house or township (or even passersby
  travelling through) would gather. 
  Besides staying warm from the freezing weather, people would share
  stories about their travels and families to the delight and entertainment of
  their listeners.  That idea of kinship
  and warmth is the basis for this musical work.  This ballad features the melody interwoven
  among the persistent sixteenth notes traded between both hands, creating an
  airy harmonic atmosphere that mimics the heat of the fire.

The Hearth

The dramatic nature of the opening piano accompaniment creates an intrigue on which the instrumental melody performs its lyrical, contrasting phrasings. As the songs moves between harmonic major and parallel major keys, the intensity of the melody drastically increases and becomes cathartic to the audience. A contrasting section drives the momentum toward a final declaration and echoic resolution, a typical treatment in many works of Franz Schubert.
