Coin for Multi-Percussion Soloist and Percussion Ensemble

Brian Nozny's piece Coin is a piece about opposites. The ensemble is tasked with the harmonic development of the piece with little in the way of rhythmic drive. On the opposite side, the soloist is tasked with providing most of the rhythmic drive of the piece, while having no impact on the harmonic implications of the work. While both of these parts are separate from one another in function, their existences within the same work compliment each other and solidify their attachment to one another, much like the two sides of a coin.
