Combustible Corridor V

This piece is a wonderful addition and performance piece for an advanced flute choir! This piece was commissioned for the 2017 National Flute Convention Collegiate Ensemble. From the composer (the story of the piece): Combustible Corridor V musically paints the tale of Coyote bringing fire to man. The piece begins with the cold, harsh winter winds blowing, and penetrating its freezing touch to the bone. Against the cold wind, Grandma tells stories of the warm and verdant springs and summers until at the end of the story everyone cheers with hope for a soon to come spring. (At the end of each movement, you'll hear a group shout that dances like the flames of a roaring fire). Huddling, and holding each other, Grandma grows cold to death. In the wake of her passing everyone cries. Coyote begins a search for fire, everyone waves goodbye and coyote leaves - up a steep and treacherous path, but grandma's stories motivate and inspire the journey. In the Skookum's cave, Coyote finds fire - it dances and entrances with its multiple flames. With fire, Coyote soars down the mountain and brings fire - everyone cheers.
