Ezechiel John ("Sacks") Williams was born on 16 July 1943 at Port Elizabeth, South Africa. After his education at Bridgton Training College at Oudtshoorn and Hewat Training College in Cape Town, he has taught at many Moravian schools before retiring in 1993. He served as organist and choirmaster at Maitland, Wittewater and Steenberg, and for the past 32 years has served the congregation at Grassy Park as organist and music director, founding a Youth Brass Band there. He has arranged many works for children’s choirs, and is the founder of the Moravian Choir Union of South Africa. His hymn tune (tune 184d) and this anthem, Come, Let Us Sing, were composed for the festival of the 250th anniversary of Moravian missions. His anthem I Want to Praise the Lord was sung at the festival commemorating the 550th anniversary of the Moravian Unity in 2007.
The publication of this anthem is sponsored in honor of Sisters Phyllis Ronald and Joyce Sainato, in loving appreciation for their many years of dedicated service to the music program at Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas, Ohio.
