Come, Let Us Worship�Bless the Lord, O My Soul

The first movement from Heaven and Earth: A Song of Creation, a unique collaborative work by six different composers active in different repertories of Eastern Orthodox Christian sacred music. Bringing to life the words of Psalm 103 (LXX) with a musical unity in diversity that reflects the psalmist’s images of the unity in diversity of the divinely created order. This initial movement is written in the style of Byzantine chant—a unison melody carries the text, surrounded and supported by a sustained drone, the ison; working with these basic elements, the composer creates a rich and varied texture that employs the full range of a mixed SATB choir.
