Complex Personalities is a group of three character pieces featuring my
children. The first movement is titled
"Sister," and is linked with my oldest daughter. The second
movement is titled "Bug," and is connected with my youngest
daughter, and the third movement is titled "Big Man" in reference
to my son. In each movement, I tried to encapsulate the images that rush to
my mind when I think of each of my children.
They are such wonderful pieces of my life, and beautiful people in
their own right. I wrote this piece in 2017 (Pre-Covid) and made it a
"virtual" ensemble (before those became all the rage). After doing some research, I believe this
was the first virtual concert wind ensemble to be created. I hope you enjoy
this large work for wind ensemble.
