Have you ever wanted to play the Glazunov saxophone concerto as a saxophone quartet? Well, this arrangement will allow you to do that. People have always needed an orchestra, a piano accompanist or sax choir. But, what if you don't have enough performers to create a sax choir? What if you don't have the cash for a piano player? What if you don't have an orchestra just ready to accompany you?
As one of the most serious pieces in the repertoire for classical saxophone, I was glad to be able to arrange it for an AATB quartet. I feel that this can allow students to more easily find performers to create a saxophone quartet to perform this arrangement.
Its my belief that this could be great for a saxophone quartet or saxophone ensemble performance. I also think that this could be perfect to include on junior recitals, senior recitals or saxophone studio performances. If you'd like to perform a work that is a solid part of the repertoire, but with a new instrumentation... try it out!
