Concerto for Euphonium

About the piece: Concerto for Euphonium (2005) was composed for longtime friend and collaborator, Pat Stuckemeyer. Written to highlight both the brilliance and expressive depth of the euphonium, the concerto blends virtuosity with lyrical beauty. From soaring melodic lines to passages of dazzling agility, the work seeks to showcase the full character of the instrument—its warmth, flexibility, and remarkable singing quality. The concerto exists in two versions: with piano accompaniment and with concert band. In either form, it is designed as both a vehicle for the soloist’s artistry and a celebration of the euphonium as a true solo voice on the concert stage.
