Contemporary Warm-Ups for Choir and Popular Music Ensembles

This book is a stepping point in rethinking what music education can look like in the K-12 classroom. The warm-up exercises contained within these pages not only are meant to challenge students singing technique but also what it means to be in a traditional choral class. Each exercise is composed to be a popular style of music with the goal of connecting with todays diverse student body. Are the songs going to be life-changing? This book is also unique in that it contains charts and tips for popular music ensembles (PMEs). A new trend in K-12 music education, PMEs are a new type of school music ensemble that has the potential to draw in new students to music classes, as its main aim is to connect with students music tastes and be a reflection of their lives. Each exercise has tips and advice on how to incorporate it into a PME rehearsal or class.
