Cool Man Jack

This sizzlin' chart performed here by Kris Berg The Metroplexity Big Band from the CD Perspectives was written for the South Carolina All-State Jazz Band. This arrangement utilizes many color combinations, a dark melody, and a hard-swinging Elvin Jones style. The chart has solo space for lead tenor sax and lead trombone, which leads to a powerful shout chorus before ending with a recap of the introduction. Perfect as an opener or change-of-pace chart, it is orchestrated for 5-4-4-5 (including vibes).
