Jazz Sanctus is a sensitive jazz ballad setting of the traditional mass text, sung in English. If you're looking to create a special "sacred moment" in your concert or service, Jazz Sanctus will fit the bill. Opening with an alto solo, the SATB voices weave in and out of divisi (SSAATTBB) to create lush jazz harmonies and powerful climactic moments. Optional bass and drum parts can add to the overall jazz feel of the piece, but the piece works equally well with the piano accompaniment alone. Scored for SSAATTBB voices with organ/keyboard, brass sextet, timpani, and percussion, Craig Curry crafts a "joyful and triumphant" arrangement of "O Come, All Ye Faithful," full of energy and holiday cheer for your Christmas celebration. 

Opening in regal fashion, your choir will shine with a commanding opening statement of "Come!" before moving into the traditional carol. The second stanza will challenge your choir and delight your audience with shifting meters. A rarely heard third stanza introduces a lyrical  freshness as the slow, harmonically rich, a cappella section highlights your choir and provides a moment of respite. 

As the arrangement crescendos with the returning brass, you can invite the audience (or not) to join in for the final stanza, before a grand and glorious choral ending. Recommended for larger, advanced church and community/collegiate choirs.

Craig Curry offers advanced pianists this distinctive and dramatic jazz piano ballad setting of the classic hymn. Filled with lush jazz chords and harmonies throughout, Craig also includes a notated "improvisation" before the final, exuberant stanza recalling Horatio Spafford's text, "the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend." As an added bonus, Craig has graciously included a second, shorter version of the arrangement omitting the improvisatory middle section lowering the performance time (from 5:15 to 4 minutes) for occasions with time constraints.
