'Cruising Down the Nile Trio'

Based on Lynne Cox's piano solo of the same title, this is an elementary piano trio, one piano, six hands. Piano 2 carries the melody w/lyrics while Piano 1 plays counter melodies and Piano 3 plays rhythmic ostinatos in the bass establishing tempo and key (s). Explores the lovely exotic sound of mid-eastern music. Lyrics depict Ancient Egypt and scenes along the Nile. Included is a mordant to mimic the shake of the tambourine, a percussive instrument used in Ancient Egyptian music. This piece is in the 'Noah's Ark' series of elem. piano solos with lyrics created to introduce students to different musical styles. Animals from various regions serve as lyrical guides. In this piece the hippos and crocodiles are the guides.
