Americans We by Henry Fillmore was first published in 1929 by Carl  Fischer Publishing Company (New York) and later renewed with edited versions  by Frederick Fennell and Robert Foster. Having gone through many different  titles such as The Cincinnati Zoo and Pure Food and Health, Fillmore settled  on Americans We. This march exemplifies his desire to make performers and  listeners happy with his music. The late Frederick Fennell even said nobody  had more fun with his music than Fillmore himself. This version is a slightly  simpler take on the original and edited versions. Rhythms have been  simplified, effectively eliminating the tongued sixteenth-note patterns. The  meter has been modified to 2/4 rather than the standard alla breve. As in the  1929 original, the piece retains the same key signatures and modulations.  Measure numbers and all standard symbols are included to improve the  rehearsal process and ease of reading. Ranges are reduced, yet all harmonies  are true to the original. This is a great piece for developing musicians!

Waltz for Concert Band. Fun! Grand! Exciting! The carousel is a favorite at amusement parks around the world. Paper Carousel was written for the composer's wife as a gift for their first (paper) anniversary. Listeners acclaim that this piece gives the feeling of riding the carousel, perhaps on the boardwalk. No matter the locale, this piece is sure to please both performers and listeners alike!

This work is paired with another work (Tomorrow, We're Still Together) as a pair of commissions by Mrs. Danni Schmitt at the Roland Park Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore, Maryland. For this piece, Danni knew right away that she wanted to use the above text as an inspiration for this piece. The poem was written by one of Danni's middle school students as a sort of instruction manual for the younger students as they began their own journeys into becoming band musicians. That poem is included in the work as a narration, helping to divide the piece into each of its major formal sections.

How to Be a Musician

Band On the Green was written for the New Brunswick Public Schools
  Elementary District Band for their spring performance in the 2012-13 school
  year. Utilizing the first octave of notes and simple quarter and eighth note
  rhythms in the winds, along with sixteenth note combinations in the
  percussion, it still contains the traditional elements and conforms to the
  standard march form. This is a great piece to teach your young students about
  the concert march!

Here is a fantastic arrangement of one of Sousa's best known marches. This Clarinet quartet is scored for three soprano clarinets and one bass clarinet. A unique feature of this arrangement is that it can be combined with any of the other woodwind arrangements by Joe Verderese. These adaptable quartets are designed to be fully flexible in four-part format with any woodwind instrument combination!

This piece is written as a raucous, tear-your-face off, exhilarating experience for both the audience and the performers. Between the tempo and the meter, there is a constant sense of drive and push forward. In the opening section, you're immediately thrust upon a high- speed adventure. With quickly evolving orchestration and melodies moving around from one section to another, the piece never gives you a chance to just settle in and relax. At the following "B section," the style suddenly changes to much more static harmony and blended timbres, allowing the audience to unexpectedly have a great deal more time to reflect. As the anticipation builds towards the reprise, the pulse intensifies until it explodes back into the unrelenting drive of the opening section.

Zero to Sixty

So many intermediate and advanced bands have the opportunity to begin
  their programs with great fanfares and concert openers. Younger groups
  donat have as many choices available to them - but now thereas "Joy
  &amp; Celebration." What better way to start your spring concert off but
  to thank your students for their growth (the first years are the hardest,
  right?) and to send them to their next band experience with a sense of joy
  for what theyave learned and achieved.

Zampa, ou La Fiancée de marber (Zampa, or the Marble Bride) first performed in Paris in 1831, is a three-act opera comique. This edition incorporates two early arrangements into a modern symphonic band format, giving ensemble members a rewarding challenge. Conductors will appreciate the full score provided rather than the condensed score of past editions. A highly recommended classic!

  tunes from the holiday season (Joy to the World, Hanukkah O' Hanukkah, and
  Jingle Bells), "Holidays Down Main Street" is a festive
  crowd-pleaser with variations on the familiar melodies for your students to
  dive into!

Band On the Green is the second work in our new FLEX SCORE EDITION. This Grade 2+ Edition is based on the original work written for the NBPS District Band Program in New Brunswick, NJ. March Spectacular is the first work in the Very Beginning Band Series. This simple, Grade 1/2  work is intended to be a teaching piece. Using only the notes typically learned in the first half of most beginner band method books, as well as rhythms limited to moving eighth notes, the piece is designed to introduce the march form in its entirety.  Simple articulations, dynamics, and phrasing marks are included to guide your band students to success!

This fun Sax Quartet has two movements each with a different twist. In the first movement the "Peg-Leg Waltz" the traditional feel of a waltz is squeezed into 5/4 giving you a sense of uneasiness and a little bit of a rushed feeling moving through each measure. The second movement "Dueling Duets" pits two duets against one another each vying for the spotlight.

Milestone Fanfare

An arrangement of a beloved classical march! Radetzky is one of the most widely performed marches, mostly associated with New Years Day. This slightly simplified version includes a full conductor score, and has been expertly rewritten for a younger concert band.  CWJ Music House is proud to inaugurate their new Developing Band Series with this magnificent work.

This new arrangement of our National Anthem gets back to basic, as its
  form and structure are strikingly similar to the original D.O.D. military
  band versions from the early 20th century. 
  Set in the key of concert B-flat, it is easily attainable by most
  middle or high school concert bands. 
  Snare drum features a part that is vastly different from the standard
  unmeasured roll utilized in most versions previously.  A trumpet solo is included with a beautiful
  brass chorale in the middle section, before the powerful close with a heroic
  fanfare!

Handel's classical oratorio finale is finally fully achievable by young
  bands! This arrangement also has an optional two-part chorus so you can fully
  collaborate with your colleagues. Play one of the most recognizable classics
  at a level totally achievable by your developing band, but not taking
  anything away from this original masterpiece.

Hallelujah Chorus (from THE MESSIAH)

One of the most bittersweet hallmarks at the end of their middle school
  band experience is sending your students on to their next adventure. This
  piece is a way great way to thank your students for their work in your band
  room and to remind them theyare always welcomed back! Composed with a
  wonderful, upbeat groove and ending with a beautiful chorale statement, this
  will be a memorable way to close out your spring concert and to celebrate all
  your students have accomplished!

Tomorrow We're Still Together

March "Independentia" was composed in 1895 by Robert Browne
  Hall (1858-1907), New England's March King, 
  and is his signature composition. R. B. Hall was born in Maine and
  seldom left the state during his lifetime. He was a prolific composer of
  primarily marching music, he left us with over 100 compositions in total.
  Independentia is a typical R. B. Hall composition in the fact that the bass
  drum and cymbals are given short solos in the work. This updated arrangement
  features a full score and parts for a more modern concert band. All musical
  elements are true to the original. Be sure to check out our adaptation of
  this piece of concert band history!
