The powerful primary theme of the piece depicts the broad views and the scope of cities, where as the second theme explores the more anxious side of being in the same small place as millions of other individuals.

GO YONDER WEST! takes its listeners from the heart of civilization in the Wild West to its outermost limits, then to its underbelly in an exciting and engaging fashion.

From environments that closely resemble our own to those that are the furthest from reality, the piece captures the whimsical descent into madness one might take.

Leaving familiarity and comfort is part of the human experience of growth. One must take a step of faith into the unknown into the world, and in doing so learn more about the world and themselves. However, the influence of their roots and earlier years never leaves them, and shapes their view of events to come. Further Down the Road captures the emotion of reminiscing on our past experiences.

Using strong melodies and driving rhythms, TO JOURNEY HOME depicts the
  story of growing up and learning what is most important. Inspired by the
  composers' life, TO JOURNEY HOME serves as a representation of the search for
  meaning.

This piece serves as a foundational introduction to jazz concepts for a younger ensemble while still containing enjoyable rhythms and melodies. The Ruffle-Tuffle Shuffle follows a typical jazz standard A-B-A structure, while throwing in elements from the blues scale to add to the "coolness" factor.

Through its duration, Playing it Cool captures that "cool"
  feeling through
    
    driving ostinatos, interesting melodies, and a sense of continuous motion
  and groove. Playing it Cool takes listeners on a journey and back as it
  grooves.

Learning anything is a cyclical process. The process of learning follows one of gaining knowledge, then understanding in a never-ending pattern. This pattern, while vicious at times, is absolutely essential to building one's knowledge and humanity.

Exuberance strives to depict one small part of that cycle. In the beginning, the smaller ideas are small and disconnected, forming into connections as the piece continues just as our newer knowledge weaves itself in and out of our prior knowledge.

By the end of the piece, these ideas have been tried, tested and recontextualized to a point that can be unfamiliar yet still recognizable, providing a metaphor to how our knowledge develops and adapts over time.

Exuberance is a work about knowledge, our relationship with knowledge, and how our relationship with that knowledge adapts to the real-world experiences that test us to our core.

Inspired by classic American Folk literature, A Piece of Home intends to capture the feeling of reflection on where the road of life has personally taken the listener up to this point, and on memories of a younger time in their lives.

A Piece of Home

One of the most prevalent narratives in popular thought is that of
the royal marriage: a union between a prince and princess, an act which joins two that are separate. Through its duration, THE PURPLE CROWN
explores its own iteration of the tale and weaves two beautiful melodies,
representations of the individuals, in and out of each other. The piece finally
ends with the union of two and a new and powerful melody that combines
the previous melodies in a joyous celebration.
