This particular arrangement of Danny Boy holds a very special place in my heart when I look back on my great adventure in music. I originally wrote this for The Maine Steiners to sing in the 2003 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella at The Beacon Theatre in New York City. Have you seen the movie Pitch Perfect? Well we lived it!
It was an unforgettable road to the finals as we competed with all of the incredibly talented groups from all over the country, and I'm very proud to say that it took a 1st place recognition in both the Arrangement and Soloist categories.
As the years passed, this became a family favorite, particularly for my Grandparents Ed and Muriel who would always ask to hear it whenever we visited. I think of them always when I hear or sing Danny Boy, and it was my great honor to sing this for each of their celebrations of life.
I proudly dedicate this two time Award Winning Arrangement of Danny Boy to the Golden Age of The Maine Steiners at The University of Maine and to all of my Grandparents who I was so lucky to know and to love.
