Danzas de mis Memorias portrays the sounds of the cultural and musical heritage of its composer, Samuel
Galperin Blanc, who grew up in Bogota, Columbia, after his family had emigrated from their native Ukraine.
A series of variatons proceed from a plaintive folk-like melody, tinged with sadness. Elements of the Klezmer
style are mixed with a more flowing waltz and a lively Tango for an energetic finish.
*This arrangement can be performed in a number of ways: with a solo instrument, either piano or violin,
or with the orchestra alone. It can even be performed with both a violin and piano solo. It is the recommendation
of the arranger to perform with violin solo, which can be performed by the concertmaster of the orchestra.
If played in the orchestra-alone version, the concertmaster should play all the cued solos. If played with
piano solo, the concertmaster should play only the first cued solo. And with violin solo, the concertmaster
should not play any of the cued solos.
