This piece is the final movement of Holst's Second Suite for Band. A dargason is a traditional English dance tune. Holst uses this tune as well as another English folk tune, Greensleeves, in the movement. The dargason tune is interwoven with the Greensleeves tune in a hemiola, combining 3/4 and 6/8 time signature simultaneously, creating a wonderfully enjoyable piece of music. The music gets softer and seems to disappear, only to end the piece with a loud crash of the final chord as an exclamation point!
