Dark Embers

Dark Embers is a bass clarinet duet composed by Theresa Martin and commissioned by Matthew Miracle in 2011. Dark Embers evokes images of smoldering hot, smoky coals which can spark fire at any moment. Fittingly, the character of the music is fast with volatile changes of gestures. The duet lasts approximately 6 minutes and features the two instruments playing melodic lines together and at moments breaking apart.
