Dark Gethsemane

James Montgomery's hymn invites us to travel redemption's path with Jesus, from Gethsemane to the judgement hall, and finally to Calvary's mountain. Lloyd Larson's expressive melody is similarly inviting, but in a convicting way that is beautifully rendered through each of these passion vignettes. Voices, piano, accessible choral harmonies and a brief quote of Herzliebster Jesu combine for a striking reminder of Christ's final hours.
