  wrote.

THE POETRY
    
    The text of this music was written by the ancient Greek poet Horace. His
  poem speaks of the cycle of life and death in nature. It ponders how fleeting
  the moment of a person's existence is. The music sets only the first stanza, which
  celebrates the advent of life after the cold void of winter.
    
    
    
    THE MUSIC
    
    The words guided the composition of each note. On the words for melting
  snow, the music shifts from minor to major. When singing of the grass, the
  singers sing lowly. The idea of trees and their new leaves spawns musical
  polyphony with swift rhythms and a branching cadence.

A new and original Christmas song by composer and singer David Batchelor. It tells of the moment when an angel announced the birth of Jesus Christ to a group of humble shepherds over two million years ago.

Shepherds, Rejoice!

On commission by conductor Dr. Nove Deypalan, wrote an organ part for a text not yet chosen. Dr. Batchelor didn't feel the music was finished until it had reached a length of seven minutes. Still with no text in mind, he showed it to his wife who said, "It sounds like it should tell the story of the creation." Seven minutes for the seven days of creation. The words almost fell into place. 

Dr. Deypalan premiered "Genesis" in Los Angeles, California and soon took it to Rome, Italy where his combined choirs of San Gabriel Valley performed it in numerous venues.

David Batchelor's "Joy to the World" for vocal trio and piano turns Handel's original music into something completely different. At times, it augments his rhythms to four times their original length set over quick and exciting triplet rhythms. The contrast creates a unique, pensive, and moving setting of the glorious thought: "Joy to the world! The Lord is come!"
