Written as a sequel to Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat. Jim Stephensons's version of this familiar story of Joseph, the devil, et al, is called "The Devil's Tale." It's inspiration comes from basically telling Ramuz' story backwards, in effect, as one giant palindrome. The music and text are both brilliantly written by the composer, and the story is set in modern times, where Joseph wakes up in Vegas to find that the Stravinsky story was all just a dream. Commissioned in 2013 by Western Illinois University, The Chicago Pro Musica, as well as 7 other universities and individuals. Duration 45'.
