Dialogues

This four-movement work is meant to be a musical conversation equally shared by all five participants. The entire work was dramatically affected by local events occurring during its creation from the spring of 2012 to the fall of the same year. Similar to other orchestras across the country, the Indianapolis Symphony faced difficult decisions as the orchestra musicians and management dealt with a financial crisis during contract negotiations. Orchestral musicians around the globe have experienced the emotions depicted in this work, as society deals with the dilemma of sustaining and supporting the arts. Note that there is a substitute cello part which can be used instead of bass if desired.
