Marriage Waltz - Representative of a piece in Mixolydian for the With Flats Or Sharps Key Signature Series of Cello Choir A La Mode, Marriage Waltz is gentle and joyful, written as a celebration of a 40th Wedding Anniversary.  In 3/2 and E Mixolydian (3 sharps), and reflective of the rest of the series, Marriage Waltz is a three-part piece for cello choir.  The Cello 3 part is written entirely in bass clef on the C and G strings.  No extensions, shifting, or use of second finger are required in the Cello 3 part.  With help to read the meter, the Cello 3 part could be played by late Suzuki Volume 1 or above level cellists.  The Cello 1 and 2 parts are written entirely in bass clef, requiring use of extensions and shifting up through fourth position.  Both the Cello 1 and 2 parts get the opportunity to play some natural harmonics, notated as diamond shape notes to denote the location of the harmonic, rather than the pitch.  Both the Cello 1 and 2 parts are recommended for Suzuki Volume 3 or above level cellists.

40 Days And Nights

Mystery at Myxdory is a three-part piece for Mixed Level Cello Trio to Cello Choir.  Focusing on bow techniques, this piece makes a nice supplement within or between the two series.
Where is Myxdory?  Only in our imaginations.  Perhaps Detective LoKey will someday crack the case for fans of Cello Choir À La Mode.  
Starting in G Mixolydian, going to D Dorian and back, provides an empty key signature, and our place name in a tiny secret code - shh. 
The meter is 4/4.  There are quarter note triplets for the Cello 1 and 2 cellists.  Cello 1 requires use of the thumb and some tenor clef, so is accessible to Suzuki Volume 6 and above level Cellists.  The Cello 2 part can be played entirely in first position, allowing focus to be on the bow hand for Suzuki Volume 2 and above level cellists.  The Cello 3 part is accessible to late Suzuki Volume 1 and above level cellists.
Technique focus is on the bow hand.  The little canon in the Cello 1 and 2 parts gives us a chance to use the full bow, all the way to the tip.  The quiet staccato near the tip provides a sneaky sound in our mystery.  Cello 1 cellists get the opportunity to use Sul Ponticello and Sul Tasto techniques, adding to the eerie sounds in our mystery.  Both Cello 1 and 2 players get to experience Ricochet bowing.  Meanwhile our less experienced Cello 3 cellists are experiencing Pizzicato with each hand, Arco, Slurs with and without string crossings, and full bow half notes to quiet notes near the tip.

Open The Stagecoach Door, Ian, is an exciting adventure in cut time, and D Dorian (C instruments - no flats or sharps.)  This Grade 2 piece has Low 1’s and 2’s marked in the violin parts, low 2’s marked in the viola part, and 2’s marked in the bass part. An ethereal sounding cello duet, sometimes described as a lullaby, which
  introduces thumb position to the left hand using natural harmonics on the
  cello, without the tension introduced when strings must be lowered to the
  fingerboard.  Included on the back page
  is a map of the most commonly used cello natural harmonics.  Violoncello 2 accompanies Violoncello 1
  sempre pizzicato, using only 3 natural harmonics, which produce a harp-like
  sound.  When taught, students quickly
  pick up the Violoncello 2 part even though it is written in tenor clef.  With the three notes far apart, students
  can quickly recognize the notes they need, even without prior experience
  reading tenor clef.  Fingerings and
  Roman numeral string markings are provided in the Violoncello 1 part the
  first time each pitch appears, allowing the teacher to introduce treble clef
  and how to read the map of the most commonly used harmonics, and allowing the
  student to look back for reference when practicing.  Each part stays in the same position throughout
  the piece, requiring no shifting.

Pretzels is a four-part piece for cello choir, in C Lydian (1 sharp) and 7/8.  With one sharp in the key signature, Pretzels could fit as a nice supplement either between the two series of Cello Choir A La Mode, or early in the second series, just with four parts instead of the usual three.  This short, delightful piece will have you bobbing along.  All four Cello parts are entirely in bass clef.  The Cello 4 part requires the use of extensions.  With some help to read the meter, end of Suzuki Volume 1 or above level cellists could play the Cello 4 part.  The Cello 3 part does not require the use of second finger or extensions.  With help in reading the meter and rhythms, middle of Suzuki Volume 1 or above level cellists could play the Cello 3 part.  The Cello 2 part has off the beat rhythms and double stops in positions up through fourth position, lending it to middle of Suzuki Volume 3 or above level cellists, with some help to read the meter and rhythms. Pretzels

Autumn - Representative of a piece in Phrygian for the With Flats Or Sharps Key Signature Series of Cello Choir A La Mode, Autumn, in 6/8 and A Phrygian (1 flat), is an emotional piece.  Reflective of the rest of the series, Autumn is a three-part piece for cello choir.  The Cello 3 part is entirely in bass clef and could be played entirely in first position, but would be better if the open A could be covered, offering opportunities to play pizzicato double stops, quick string crossings, and requiring rhythmic accuracy.  Distinction between the use of second and third finger is necessary with the Bb in the key signature.  The Cello 3 part could be played by Suzuki Volume 2 or above level cellists.  The Cello 2 part requires shifting up through Fourth Position, including the use of double stops with quick string crossings.  Written entirely in bass clef, the Cello 2 part might be played by Suzuki Volume 4 or above level cellists, though with the speed and facility needed, is probably better for Suzuki Volume 6 or above level cellists.  The Cello 1 part spends considerable time in Tenor Clef, and requires use of the thumb with fingers in different places on different strings, and the use of a turn, in addition to opportunities to use col legno technique.  Recommending the Cello 1 part to Suzuki Volume 7 or above level cellists.  The solos at the beginning of the piece are found in the Cello 1 and 2 parts.

Waterfall Meditation is the most advanced piece in the series, requiring tremendous speed and control over quiet pizzicato in the Cello 1 and 3 parts, and similarly with quiet arco in the Cello 2 part. Accents, tremolo, a very important solo trill with leading the group back in following a fermata, and half step smears with the first finger, are teaching points in the Cello 3 part, recommending Suzuki Volume 3 or above level cellists. However, skill must be developed in counting/feeling the rhythm, putting in the accents, and playing quietly at such an advanced tempo.
