Travel back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with this action-packed stage adaptation of Disney's Mulan. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Mulan Junior is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. Disney's Mulan Junior has a large number of both female and male principal characters who all need to be able to sing solo lines. Because the story of Mulan centers on a woman pretending to be a man, there are 6 or 7 major roles that definitely need be played by men. There are also a good number of small, featured roles in the show to showcase your ensemble members. Try to find a member of your local community or a community near by who can come in to talk to your cast about traditional Chinese customs and heritage. If possible, have them read a version of the original Mulan poem to your cast in the Chinese language. Finally, work with a local restaurant to plan a dinner where you give the students the opportunity to sample traditional Chinese food.One Act.
