Distortions is based on a concept of corruption. The work develops a mixture of contrasting themes and motifs while also utilizing changing soundscapes as part of the overall form. A rhythmic ostinato looms throughout the work mostly on the pitch C. C is considered the tonal center and is a prominent control throughout the work clashing with numerous tonalities and bitonalities providing an interesting combination of sounds. While the atmosphere remains dark throughout the piece slowly transforms from a harmonious blend towards increasing cacophony. Eventually chaos ensues as sounds of pleasantry are overtaken which leads to a distorted unsettling and perhaps grotesque conclusion.
