wind ensembles. With its constantly
changing meter and time signatures and shifting moods, it is a portrayal of
just a few minutes in the life of a 3-year-old boy, ranging from relentless,
whirlwind-like energy and activity, to calm, restful passivity, then back to
full liveliness again, and the eventful, extremely active life of a young
teenage girl. The first movement was written while reflecting on young James
Edwin. The second was written for Jessica Noelle. Both movements celebrate
the happiness and joy of childhood.
