Dream Time

This lovely, slow swing chart written by Benny Carter is designed to feature an alto saxophone soloist with the ensemble playing more than just backgrounds for the soloist. The solo includes both written and improvised passages. The ensemble states the A section melody while the alto soloist takes the bridge for the first chorus. The second chorus features the alto solo for the A section with sax section backgrounds, a sax soli for the bridge and then the ensemble for the last A section. This is an accessible chart and would be a great opportunity to allow an alto player to be in the spotlight!
