El Son de los Chilaquiles

Written for the advanced beginner mariachi ensemble, this son jaliscience skill-builder piece focuses on introducing young musicians to the son feel that can be described as shifting between 3/4 and 6/8 as well as broken 3rd patterns that are characteristically found in traditional sonnes. An optional single Trumpet part has been provided, for ensembles that may find themselves with only one trumpet player. Violins will be playing a unison part as a way of consolidating intonation and pitch audiation. In measures 52-54, violins and trumpets are to be play this section as caballito, a galloping 8th note feel.
