"Elegy For Band" is dedicated to the memory of Richard "Scott" Davidson, (1952-2024) of Sturgis, Michigan. Scott was an extraordinary musician and wonderful human being. In a musical tribute honoring Scott, Elegy For Band is an original work based loosely on thematic material from his educational background: Sturgis High School Fight Song, (Phineas S. Wheat), Tennessee Tech University Fight Song, and their Alma Mater "Tennessee Tech Hymn". You will hear echoes of all three pieces throughout the composition, which culminates in a beautiful and reflective rendition of the Tennessee Tech Alma Mater with a hint of the SHS Fight Song.
