The "Elegy" is my tribute to Lou Harrison (1917-2003), with whom I studied music composition in the mid-1970's. The Elegy expresses my feelings about Lou's life, his music, and his influence on me as a composer. Lou was a great and generous human being. I think he would have liked this piece. The dramatic arc of the Elegy is a progression from anger, to weary sadness and grief, to tranquility, and at the last to calm and graceful acceptance.
