This innovative work tackles some of the most pressing environmental crises in recent history. The choir sets the scene with an urgent ostinato before shifting to storytelling mode, giving details of natural disasters and their effect on the planet. Each voice part portrays a different element, using singing, stomping, breath, sandpaper, and pouring water to elicit the sounds of the earth. The final line states, "We are in a new abnormal." An evocative work for advanced choir.
